Jatayu Earth’s Center 

Approximately 38 km from Kollam lies Jatayu Center’s Earth Center, which offers a range of thrilling experiences and many mythological stories. At this place, there is the largest bird sculpture in the whole world which features the legendary bird Jatayu from the Indian epic. Located on a hilltop, the center features zip-lining, rock climbing, and trekking. Or, you can ride a cable car to the top with an excellent view of the area. 

Munroe Island 

Munroe Island is a beautiful and quiet place where the Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada River meet. It is a good location to get an experience of true rural Kerala and its native features. The island is noted for its canals with well-manicured coconut palm trees fields and rice terraces. The lake supports a wide range of birds and different varieties of fish; hence it is a great place for environment enthusiasts. Paravur Lake

On the banks of the Ashtamudi Lake is the beautifully decorated Thevally Palace – a historical site. One of the best examples of Kerala-style architecture, the palace was built during the reign of the Travancore kings. It served as a venue for meetings between the King of Travancore and British officials during the colonial period. In some areas of the palace, one can tour today, the opinions and realities on the location make it unique. The palace grounds offer quite a breathtaking view of Ashtamudi Lake.
